Go to buy.com and you get a wireless card and a router for 150 to 200 buck.

Buy it there and call your local Techie and see how much to install one if you do not know how.

It would not cost much to get installed.

The card and the labor may add up to $200. If money

is no problem, this is the way to go. If you don't

mind getting just as good a solution (but maybe not

just as pretty) for only $50, then read on...

Forget the mini-PCi card, and get yourself a USB 2.0

wireless adapter. Many vendors offer such adapters

for $50 to $70. These are tiny adapters shorter than

your index finger. They plug in to any of the USB

ports on your laptop.

I use Netgear WG-111 v2, which I bought for less than

$50 at BUY.com, and it works very nicely for me.

Linksys, Ddata, and other vendors also have similar

products. The labor cost? Nothing. It took me 3

minutes to install my adapter and configure it with

the software provided by Netgear.

The best part of a USB adapter is the fact that you use

it when you want to. When you don't need it, just

unplug it and never worry about anybody reaching your

computer by broadband.
