Is my computer worth repairing?

my kids' grandma gave them a hp about 2 years ago.it only had 128 memory and had started to run so slow that a lot of the time they forgot what they were supposely doing.some body told me to try adding memory so following the manual

and the instructions included with the memory stick i called myself adding 256.worth of memory. after reassembling the computer and plugging it back in when i cut the power button on nothing happens.some how i have killed the whole thing.naturally we don't have the recovery disk and even if we did would it help? should i take it to the shop or just let it go to computer heaven

Is my computer worth repairing?triumph

Firstly, remove the new RAM that you have added. If your PC starts, then you are in good luck otherwise, take it to a service station. In case you system is booting after taking out the new memory stick, then, the problem you are facing can be explained below:-

The two sticks of memeory i.e. RAM on the PC have to be identical i.e. same speed and same size of RAM. So either change the new memory stick to match the existing one or remove the old one and let your system work with the new memory stick i.e. 256 MB of RAM although today anything less than 512MB is not recomended. Incase your system is not working with the new memory after removing the old one, then, your PC doesnot support the new memory stick in view of the reasons listed below:-
