Is it OK to quit a job that I've been working at for only 6 months?

I'm working in California, this is my first job, and I'm a computer repair technician.

Forget what people say about how it looks on a resume. This isn't the 1980's. Employers realize that people get laid off, transferred, or otherwise find other career alternatives. Gone are the days where people stay in one job for FOREVER, and keep moving up within the same company. It is not uncommon to find a longer career history than before. Some employers will get picky if you've had more than 2 to 3 jobs in the past five years, but that's only a few. However, I would try to stick with 2 to 3 jobs in 5 year time frame. It looks more stable, not like you're constantly looking for work.

idf your not happy with it, yes, but dont expect them to say good things about you if a new employer asks.
i wouldnt if i was u its hard finding a job especially in michigan. some encouragemtn get some time build up so it will look godd on ur references, trust me just stay there i veen out of work for 9 months know its hard not knowing how u going pay ur bills and etc.
It will not look the best on the resume, but its better than 3 months. The best idea if you are not in a harassing or other illegal situation is to look for another job while you still have one - this is what employers like the most. No breaks in the work experience and then the transition looks like you went to a new company to improve yourself, instead of just because you didn't like the job.
6 months isn't too short. If you dislike your job or find a better job, sure. But the IT market is kind of tight in California, you probably want to make sure you find the next job before you quit.
It's okay to quit. But first think about the reasons behind your desire to quit. Is it the work, the environment, coworkers, the boss, etc.? Maybe it's a problem that can be resolved and you don't need to leave.
