Is There Anyway To Repair a USB port without losing the data?

I have a LaCie 80Gb external hard drive, and can't access the data on there due to a loose USB port. Not the part that plugs into the computer, but the part plugs into the drive itself.

I guess what I'm asking is whether or not I can have the connection repaired without losing any data as I have a ton of music on there I wouldn't want to lose. Thanks

If you want to continue using your storage device and it is just the plug conection end that has the problem.... you won't lose anything that is stored on the hard disk inside the portable drive..... You could go to Radio Shack or any computer equipment store and by a new USB connector and splice it onto the cable from the portable HDD......

That's the easy way.... Other wise, you could destroy the box that is holding the portable HDD and take the disk out and install it into your computer as a secondary hard drive and access the music that way......

But, whichever way you decide to go... the music is still there on the LaCie external HDD...... So nothing to worry about there...... %26lt;smile%26gt;
