Can anyone help with an erratic computer?

I have a desktop which for no reason would not work after I had used it alot the previous day.I took it to the repair shop a few days later and it worked fine.Now 6 months later it has done the same thing.after being used excessively the day before.The screen says no signal.I have taken all the flexs out and put them back nothing.Why do computers stop and start working for no obvious reason.If it was a person I would say it wanted a rest !Help would be appreciated rather than another unnecessary trip to the shop.Thank you

If it is reporting no signal then it could be that the video card is down.

The reason can be such as, overheating or an electronic fault in the machine.

If you know what you are doing you can unplug the computer then take the side off and check the card is well pushed in.

Make sure you earth yourself to avoid damaging components with static electricity.

If it's nothing obvious then it's back to the shop I'm afraid.
