How can I find out if a certain computer manufactuer sent me a previously owned computer instead of

Approximately 10 months ago I purchased a certain manufacturers computer. After it arrived it was a total nightmare for 6 months until I got dsl and they were able to go directly into my computer and repair problems. Today I downloaded picassa and found pictures and videos that were not mine (just 1 v ideo and 2 photos). Is there some way to use serial # or other to find out if this computer had been a return. It arrived without things I had ordered and many many problems such as not being able to do a system restore. I still have some problems but work around them. I did delete the video before I realized what this might have meant but do have the 2 photos. I'm afraid to do a system restore and bring the video back because of previous problems.

if you was not told or if there was a sales add and it was not written in fine print that you may get a refurbished. then I would contact you state attorney generals office and talk to them. It sure sounds like you got ripped off.

well being that this has been ten months in the running it might be a problem with taking it back ....... for the amaount of money that ppl pay for these things if you had any doubt in your mind that this was a return from the start you should have taken it back let alone all the other troubles youve encountered in the time as well ..... but i also i must tell you that 80 % of the puters sold today in box out of stores are outdated and not even compatable with the hardware and software they are sold with ...... need to be careful!......custom build is the only way
If you open up the computer and notice that other cards have been inserted into the empty pci slots (you can tell this by scrape marks on the pins) then the computer was definitly a refurb, or apart from that the manufacturer may have just used a previously owned hard drive.
erm did u get it from currys or comet or where? add a detail saying then i shall tell you what i think

ok bassically i bought a pc from comet a couple of years ago and when looking through the documents their were remaining folders from software and pictures i have never put on. when i reseached more into this comet and currys being bassically the same company were selling the pc's that had been sent back and have been in trouble for this before.
